6x Shops for design lovers

We won't tell you where you're going yet, but you'll probably go home with about four extraordinary design objects. And otherwise, you'll be bursting with inspiration. Okay, so now we've pretty much given it away. But we promise that there is still plenty to discover in one of the many design shops in Eindhoven. Head to the following spots for designer tea towels, functional furniture, and books on design.

Vij5

On the Hallenweg, you will find Vij5. An (online) design shop, workshop, and showroom. Arjan and Anneke actually prefer to call themselves publishers. That fits them just a little better. And, of course, this self-proclaimed title comes with an extensive collection. From Tweedoek to Lookshelf, everything in the shop is both functional and beautiful. 

Kazerne

Eat, sleep, admire ... and buy. It is no surprise that you can get your hands on some beautiful design at Kazerne, Home of Design. And most of it is from Eindhoven. If you're still looking for a luminous dandelion designed by the renowned Studio Drift, or a decorative dove made from textiles by Christien Meindertsma x T.E.? Drop by at the Paradijslaan!  

Onomatopee

Visiting Kanaalzone is always a good idea. Especially when you stop at Onomatopee. This cultural incubator-meets-publisher-meets independent design museum is another fine place to get inspired and score design books. Did you know that the books published by Onomatopee go all over the world, including at the MoMa, New York? Pretty cool!

STED

As a design lover, you are always looking for the best design out there. Want to give your interior some Scandinavian schwung? Then dive into STED on Willemstraat. Ferm Living, Paper Collective, HAY, this shop is full of design brands that make your heart beat faster.

Motta 

An odd one out. If you would assume that this list would only consist of stores where they sell design objects. Motta specializes in books. On architecture, graphic design, photography, fashion, and design. And that makes them worthy of a spot on this list, if you ask us. You shop their collection at de Grote Berg, the Van Abbeshop, and other museum shops worldwide.

Piet Hein Eek

We keep telling you: go see Piet Hein Eek. Really! This legend is one of Holland's most famous designers. His empire at Strijp-R comprises a hotel, a fry shop, a workshop, restaurants, and a two-stories design shop. Here you can buy, among other things, his iconic furniture made of scrap wood, and the Eenmal lamp. You will also find the work of Studio RENS, TWEEK-EEK, and brands such as Freitag and Carhartt. Definitely worth a visit.
