Walls with Paint: Motion

In 'Walls with Paint', Eindhoven local, photographer, and art fan Lukedaduke shares the story behind a special street art project in Eindhoven. This month: Studio Giftig’s latest addition.

Studio Giftig has already painted several tunnels and walls in Eindhoven. You can spot their work throughout the city: district De Bergen has an old Spiderman painting, the bike tunnel towards Ikea has also been taken care of, near the VUE cinema there’s the famous mural called Eternal Love, and last year, the studio has painted the Vestdijktunnel; covering it with the hands that do lots for Eindhoven. It’s just a small grasp of their work, as there are many more murals made by them. 

With their latest project, Music and Murals, the fellas of Studio Giftig hopped from city to city. All to paint murals inspired by Dutch musicians, and their lyrics, living in that city. For example: Racoon is immortalized in the city of Goes, Opgezwolle in Zwolle and Spinvis in Nieuwegein.

The latest addition is a mural on the walls of CKE at the Kruisstraattunnel. It is inspired by the lyrics of a song called ‘Motion’ by Eindhoven rapper Fresku. Translated from Dutch to English it means something like this:

These lines were passed down to Fresku by his father.From the bottom of the wall to the top you can see the three phases of a plant: at the bottom, you see the seed, in the middle the growing plant, and at the top the mature plant. These images are symbolic of the past, the present, and the future. As you can see, the present stands out a bit more because of the brighter colors.  

Overall, a nice addition to the growing amount of walls with paint in Eindhoven.
