26x Outdoor cafes with the longest hours of sunshine
Every sunseeker’s worst nightmare: you’ve just snagged the best spot at a sidewalk cafe, only for the sun to disappear behind a building. Sound familiar? No worries! We’ll tell you the best places in Eindhoven where you can soak up the sun all day long (as long as it’s shining, of course).
Woensel-West
Let's start in Woensel-West at the Jungle café, where you immediately get the summer feeling because of the exotic vibe and tropical interior—both inside and out. On the menu, you’ll find excellent locally brewed coffee and delicious vegan dishes. Located on the ever-vibrant Edisonstraat, you'll also find Van Alles & Co – a coffee bar and vintage store in one! Everything you see is up for sale, from lounge chairs to other vintage home accessories. From the moment these two hotspots open their doors, the sun greets you and sticks around until closing time.
Around Strijp-S
Brouwerij het Veem and STR'EAT bars & kitchens are the ultimate after-work hangouts. Settle down and grab a refreshing drink or some bites with your colleagues or friends. Can’t decide between the ten different kitchens and three bars at STR'EAT bars & kitchens? No worries! On the other side of the Veemgebouw, you’ll find Het Ketelhuis and Biergarten where the summer vibes are always in full swing. Besides beer and good food, they have something else in common: a whole lot of sunshine. Nivea even set up a couple of sunscreen dispensers with free sunscreen! Yes, you’ll need them! A bit closer to the city center, you'll find Koffiehuisje.. Their cozy sidewalk cafe shines not only because of the sun, but also because of its charms. A 10/10!
Victoriapark
Between the Philips Stadium and downtown is a hidden gem called Victoriapark. From dusk till dawn, you can enjoy the sun to the fullest here. Start your day fresh at Zwartwit Coffee with delicious cappuccinos or an all-day breakfast. Finished with brunch? Slide over to Martini's. And yes, they definitely have refreshing cocktails. But, this great Italian restaurant is also the place to go for a tasty snack, a crispy pizza, or pasta that will bring you instant Italian holiday vibes. One door down at the neighbor Victoria by Goyvaerts, their sunny outdoor seating area will take you on a culinary trip around the world without the need to pack your bags. Would you rather seek some shade (your answer is probably no, since you’re reading this article, but still)? At Brownies&downieS, you're tucked away in the corner of the building. Stop here for delicious pastries or a nice lunch served by the super sweet staff. They truly brighten up the place.
Wilhelminaplein
The outdoor seating areas at Wilhelminaplein are the cherry on top of your sunbathing day. Want to go for something fancy? At the sunny sidewalk cafe of Grand Cafe Josh, you can slurp up oysters and enjoy a glass of wine. It’s also the perfect spot to scout the many other outdoor areas on the square. Not sure which one to choose? We’ve got you covered! Proeflokaal De Gaper focuses on fresh seasonal products prepared with influences from French cuisine. Do you love live music, specialty beer, and an almost village-like atmosphere? Then the outdoor seating area of Café Wilhelmina ( or Wilhelmien, as the locals call it) is the spot for you! Need a bite to eat? At Restaurant Bodega Maxima, you savor authentic Argentinean meat, such as tenderloin or spare ribs—finger-licking good! And last but not least, there’s Het Kleine Café, known for its great cocktails. Wherever you decide to settle down, keep your sunglasses on hand because this square is guaranteed to get plenty of sunshine!
De Bergen
On De Kleine Berg, you’ll find Trattoria Mangiare. Its cozy sidewalk café immediately catches the eye, but did you know there is also a hidden city garden in the back? Enjoy authentic Italian dishes, from timeless classics to seasonal meat and fish dishes. We'll stay in the same street for a while, because Berlage Kitchen & Bar is also a very popular place to have lunch or dinner outdoors. You can easily spend some hours in their peaceful city garden.
Kerkstraat
For a downtown adventure, head over to the always-sunny Kerkstraat: the perfect place for people-watching. Residency for the People offers greenery and lots of sunshine. This creative space next to the Catharinakerk serves the best dumplings in town. Next door is the modern Mexican restaurant El Pastor. Highly recommended are their tacos with homemade salsa dip and their cocktails with a Mexican twist! Next door at De Burger, you’ll find both classic and exotic burgers. During summer, their outdoor cafe expands, so you can easily find a spot. Another gem on Kerkstraat is Otis, Eindhoven's smallest coffee place. Over here, they transform a simple sandwich and great coffee into a work of art. Plus, you can sit outside in the charming seating area and soak up some vitamin D.
Along De Dommel
All year long, the Van Abbe Museum Café is visited by art lovers from all over the world. Their outdoor seating area is surrounded by architectural highlighsand a unique lake of the Dommel River. The menu at Van Abbe museumcafé guarantees fresh, pure, and artisanal dishes. A little upstream, you’ll find Stadsbrouwerij (Café 100 Watt). Discover their in-house brewed beers during a tasting session and don't forget to eat something tasty in between (bitterballen, for example!) so you can keep both feet on dry land.
NRE-grounds
Still can't make up your mind after all these tips? Then we'll continue our sunny trip to the NRE-terrein, which is the creative hotspot! Good Food Republic is the first stop. Besides getting a boost from the sun on the outdoor seating area, you'll also get a boost from the healthy, organic dishes here. The crunchy salads, organic sandwiches, and vegan snacks are truly to die for! In this area, you will also find Fifth's lovely terrace.
