5x Hungry for design

Ah, design; as the design capital of the Netherlands, we can't help but obsess over it. But wandering around all those design hotspots can leave you rather hungry (we know from experience). Lucky for you, design and food mix very well. What are you waiting for? Grab a bite and immerse yourself in design at the following spots!

Kazerne

Kazerne is a hotel, restaurant and gallery known as the home of design. Whether you’re eating, drinking or spending the night, you’re surrounded by design. Enjoy world-class Italian food and wander around the exhibition to enjoy design by (local) talents.

KEVN

What to do with an old school building? Leave that to Erik and Yingyi. They transformed the school near Strijp-S Station into KEVN, a place where graphic art, live music, and that homey pub feeling come together. You can enjoy international cuisine, sophisticated cocktails, cold beer, homemade lemonade, and snacks in the new pavilion. They regularly host parties and theme nights where design lovers feel right at home.

Residency for the People

Set foot in this hotspot run by designers. Order a red wine (cheap but tasty) and unwind while enjoying the best dumplings in town; the reason Residency for the People is also known as the 'Dumpling Club.' In the summer, you can relax in the charming garden of their neighbor, St. Catherine's Church.

Juuts

Don't have anything to do on a Friday night? Drop by green oasis Juuts. At this cheerful little joint at Sectie-C, you can join their Friday afternoon drinks. With any luck, you'll spend the rest of the evening hanging out with designers.

Green Restaurant & Grandcafé Piet Hein Eek

From famed furniture designer to hotelier extraordinaire, is there anything world-renowned designer Piet Hein Eek can't do? While you're contemplating his talents, let us introduce you to his restaurants. Lunch and dinner come in all shapes and sizes, especially at the Green Restaurant, where Chef Erling whips up a next-level buffet. Not into the whole build-your-own-plate thing? Grandcafé Piet Hein Eek serves more deliciousness with dishes featuring  local produce.
