Did you know that a digital version of Eindhoven exists? And contrary to what you might hope: ‘Eindhoven, the online game’ doesn’t exist yet, unfortunately. What does exist are ever growing datasets of pictures, sounds, numbers, maps, and demographic data of Eindhoven. Ready to be found via the worldwide web. Designer and artist Teresa Fernández-Pello scoured the Internet for all this data, creating her Share the Vibe.
All that data is fun, but without imagination and emotion, it's worth little. At least, if you ask Teresa Fernández-Pello: "Ultimately, it is up to us how we want to live and interpret the city, which determines what the city is or can be. That's why it's so important that we try to constantly re-imagine the city." Using the various data sets, Teresa creates patterns, colors, and rhythms that depict the energy of Eindhoven. She completes the story with the song "Sweet Sweet Lemon" by Nanno Simonis, made from Eindhoven sound recordings.
