Eindhoven from A to Z: King’s Day

You might be thinking: King's Day, isn't that a national holiday? Yes, that's correct! But as the host of the Netherlands' largest King's Day festival, we know best how to celebrate King Willem-Alexander's birthday. That's why K in the Eindhoven A-Z stands for King's Day.

First things first: if you're still a novice when it comes to Dutch holidays, we'll give you a crash course in this list. Is this your first King's Day? Then we recommend checking out our King's Day 101. Essentially, on April 27th, we Dutchies celebrate our king's birthday. Everything - and we mean everything - turns orange on this day, which is also one of the few days when our national pride shines through (besides cheering on our national football clubs during international games, of course). 

Pastries, flags, outfits, our spirit, and more, on King’s Day orange is Eindhoven’s color. What makes King's Day in Eindhoven so special is EHV = KING; the biggest festival in the Netherlands. At more than thirty locations, from Stadhuisplein to Ketelhuisplein, you can dance the day away. In total, there's about 1500 meters of dance floor waiting for you. To save you some time, we line up all those parties for you every year. If you're taking it a bit easier this day, perhaps  because you're out with the kids, stroll along the many flea markets or get a taste of the Dutch cuisine at the many food stalls. Either way, It's going to be a party!
